TS5C Sponsored Athlete
The flagship fund has already benefited over 130 young athletes from Somerset in a variety of sports. TS5C sponsored athletes have already achieved significant results at both County and National level, and have competed for Team GB in international competitions.

Jamie claimed a Bronze medal at the Senior England Athletics Championships in Bedford at the end of July, for the 100m wheelchair racing event. Jamie was the only junior wheelchair racer at the event, where he also got a PB of 18.02, now ranking him 3rd in the UK in his T33 classification.

TS5C sponsored Jamie featues in the new Paralympics advert 'Yes I Can' showing on Channel 4 right now.

He attended the Premiere in London and was lucky to mix with the Stars!

The season is well under way and Jamie is steadily chipping away at last seasons PBs. He recently took part in the Typhoo Junior Disability Championships in Coventry, coming home with 3 Golds in the 100, 200 and 400m. He also now holds the Under 20's National records in the 400 and 800m in his classification.  However, Jamie was over the moon to have been placed joint first by TS5C in the Young Sportsperson of the Year awards.

"Thank you so much to the TS5C for the top up grant and ongoing support for Jamie. The season has now started for wheelchair racing. Jamie competed in the Kingston Open at the beginning of April, getting a PB in the 200m. The following week he went to Birmingham and took part in the Birchfield Harriers Open, coming 1st in the 100,200 and 400m, and getting another PB in the 200m again!"

Winter can be pretty quiet for wheelchair racing as competitions don't really restart until April. But as Jamie now belongs to the British Athletics Parallel Success Academy he has been attending winter training camps in Loughborough. This is a great opportunity to learn new techniques with the help of Jenni Banks the GB coach.

Jamie was also surprised with a Pride of Somerset Youth Award in March, a great night where he was also interviewed by BBC Radio Somerset.

Jamie ended 2015 on a real high.

He was lucky enough to be chosen by TASS (Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme) to compete in Brazil for Team GB in November in the Brazilian Paralympic School Games.

Jamie went with a small group from British Athletics for a week and came home with 3 Gold medals for the 100, 400 and 1500m.
