I'll use this e-mail as a chance to update you on how my progress in my sport has been. As you know, i've taken part in the KALAS Winter Series which is held on Merryfield Airfield. After winning the first round of the series from an attack which i launched from the outset, I was put in the "malliot jaune," The Yellow Leaders Jersey. This meant that in the next race, I was a marked man, with a bright Yellow jersey on my shoulders I couldn't but sneeze without someone jumping on my every move. However, 3 laps into the race the decisive move came after a crash took down my nearest competitors team mate. At this, i seized the opportunity to try and stay out front of the bunch. It was me and one other that were in the lead and made up a gap of 1 minute and 30 seconds! It was a difficult race tactically and due to my "Youth Gear Restrictions" the adult with whom i was off the front with, powered away from me in the tail wind section of the course, i simply ran out of gears. I still happily came 2nd in the full adult field and remain the leader of the competition with the Yellow jersey still in my possession. The next race in the series takes place on the 12th of this month, which i am keenly excited to defend my yellow jersey in.

The winter series isn't the only competition i've been taking part in, i have also been competing in the Newport City Winter Track League. Taking part in the "A League," which is the highest level league available to do there, I have been racing with experienced adult track racers and members of the British Cycling Squad and the Welsh national team. I have really enjoyed the racing and have raced really hard gaining at least 2 top 3 positions in every session i have been to. I see this as a great achievement for me because last year, I was riding in the league below and not gaining the level of results i am getting now. After riding in over 45 races over the last 2 and a half months at Newport Velodrome I have now finished the Winter Series in 3rd Place overall gaining a medal and another result for my CV. I'm now looking on to the Newport City Spring Track League starting on the 07/01/14, i hope to better my winter result and either win or come second in the series.
