TS5C Sponsored Athlete
The flagship fund has already benefited over 130 young athletes from Somerset in a variety of sports. TS5C sponsored athletes have already achieved significant results at both County and National level, and have competed for Team GB in international competitions.

After failing to make the Rio Olympic Team, other opportunities have arisen. I was selected to represent the England South West Team in Croatia for the annual "Golden Bear" Meet.

I had made some changes to my training schedule after my results at the Olympic Trials and was a little nervy about the swims I had in Croatia. However, those nerves were unnecessary. On the first day I swam the 200m Breaststroke and finished 3rd in a strong field in an in-season best time (best time unrested). The next day I swam my best event, the 200m Individual Medley where I ended up in 2nd again in a strong field with another in-season best time (best time unrested). My time in the 200 Individual Medley was better than my rested swim at the Olympic Trials. All in all competing for the England South West Team gave me some valuable team experience at International meets. It also helped to reignite my passion for swimming after my disappointing results at Olympic Trials.

Looking ahead I will be competing at the British Nationals in the 100 Butterfly, 200 Individual Medley and the 100 Breaststroke, which start on the 26th of July.
